Gilakas'la With the arrival of the snow, winter seems to have arrived. However, it's still hard to believe that it's December already and we are only a couple of weeks of school left before the Christmas break!

October has come and gone and so has our beautiful weather! The rainy season is well upon us and winter seems to have arrived early.
Last week our school had an amazing opportunity to work on fish. With the help of community members, students and staff we proceed 528 jars of fish. Students learned and participated in the many steps involved in the process of working on fish. Elders were present to share Bak̕wa̱mk̓ala and their knowledge of fish processing. It was an amazing learning opportunity and we are excited to share the gift of fish during the opening of the Gukwdzi. Here are a few words we learned:
Sockeye - ma̱łik
Jarred fish - ‘met̕sola
BBQ fish - t̕łuba̱kw
Cutting fish - x̱watła
Fish head - hixt̓i’

It's hard to imagine only two weeks left for our students! Lots happening still. Unfortunately Dianne and Allyson's boat trip for tomorrow had to be cancelled due it being too windy.
