Gilakas'la. The first term has quickly come to an end and we are close to the holiday break. I am so proud of the work of our students and staff during the first four months of school. It never ceases to amaze me how much learning can happen in such a short time.

Can't believe it's the last week of school. We start off with the PHSS grads coming by the school tomorrow at 11:40! Sports Fun Day in the afternoon, so dress for water games. Wednesday is our Education Celebration (note kids are dismissed after lunch). On Thursday, students attend with their families for Bounce-A-Rama. The Friday is a half day. Last week our school had an amazing opportunity to work on fish. With the help of community members, students and staff we proceed 528 jars of fish. Students learned and participated in the many steps involved in the process of working on fish. Elders were present to share Bak̕wa̱mk̓ala and their knowledge of fish processing. It was an amazing learning opportunity and we are excited to share the gift of fish during the opening of the Gukwdzi. Here are a few words we learned:
Sockeye - ma̱łik
Jarred fish - ‘met̕sola
BBQ fish - t̕łuba̱kw
Cutting fish - x̱watła
Fish head - hixt̓i’
