Welcome to 2020, a new year and decade! I hope you had opportunities to connect with those special to you during the holidays. In January, we have hit the ground running and our students are back into the routing that school provides.
November/December 2019 Newsletter
Gilakas'la. The first term has quickly come to an end and we are close to the holiday break. I am so proud of the work of our students and staff during the first four months of school. It never ceases to amaze me how much learning can happen in such a short time.
October 2019 Newsletter
October was another jammed packed month of learning and experiences! We kicked off the month with singer and songwriter Norman Foote visiting the school. His energy, enthusiasm and his way of engaging and involving the students was wonderful to see. We also practiced...
Please see our menu and weekly calendar. We will be closed for a funeral service on Wednesday. There may be potential changes to the end of the week as well. We will share that information when it become available to us. ❤️

Today the school and daycare will be closed for Naomi Anderson's funeral service.
We want to take a moment to honour and thank Naomi for the lasting impact she had on our school and community.
Naomi was a long-time part of the Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw School family and held many roles over the years. No matter the role, she gave her whole heart. She cared deeply for our children, had a special gift for connecting with them — especially our youngest and those who needed extra support — and made everyone around her feel valued.
Naomi’s creativity could be seen throughout our school, from beautiful bulletin boards and stage decorations to the regalia created for our Grade 7 graduates. She also had a thoughtful way of sharing her talents through handmade gifts, small acts of kindness that meant so much to staff and will not be forgotten.
We are grateful for the time Naomi shared with us and for everything she gave to our students, staff, and families. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and connection that will continue to live on in our school.
On behalf of the Gwa’sala-’Nakwaxda’xw School, we extend our deepest condolences to Naomi’s family and loved ones. Thank you for sharing her with us. 💙

It has been a difficult time for our community, and our thoughts are with all families during this period.
Please note that the school and daycare will be closed on Wednesday to allow staff and families the opportunity to attend a community funeral.
As details emerge regarding any additional closures, we will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
Regular programming will resume on Thursday.
